03 · DESCRIPTION

Purpose and operating principle

The defining feature of the direct-coupled scheme is that the heat carrier circulating through the trunk network feeds the building's system directly. The scheme is called open because domestic hot water is drawn directly from the supply pipeline. Heating is regulated based on outdoor air temperature (weather-compensated control). Circulation-pump control is on/off, variable-frequency, or variable-frequency per pump (VFD-per-pump).
